Why do we adore a god which is said merciful and just AND has condemned forever the humanity because of the original sin of only one?

"It is now quite lawful for a Catholic woman to avoid pregnancy by a resort to mathematics, though she is still forbidden to resort to physics and chemistry." Henry Louis Mencken

Two answer this I will do in two ways: the first Cynical:

Because God is a loving, yet very demanding God. And in order to win favor, we must first suffer.

Now with a more methodical look. It stems from the early onset of the Church, where Kingships still reigned and the Pope was pretty much that, a King. Priests & Monks were Christian Nobles, if you will.

They had to keep power within the church, and at the time, the way to go was to subjugate your servants. Making them feel like they should suffer for God's Love is the way to do it.

This, I do not believe is what Jesus asked St. Peter to set up. I think man decided it was more fun to run it that way, and we've paid a heavy burden for that.

the Reformation, Martin Luther asked why we suffer for our religion rather than celebrate. The Church actually agreed with many of his points, they just didn't tell him which ones.....

Vatican II has helped allieviate a lot of the heavy handed Church doctrines of suffering.

Hell in the 60s they realized that there's more to a marriage than a ceremony & Consumation. Hence more annulments as of late. (yay for me).

In closing, the Church has many flaws, but it always carries a towel.

That's good. Towels are vital.
