Update

Have I mentioned that Nick is in Canada this week? So I'm missing him again, after having him home for only a week and a half. Of course, the reason he's in Canada is because he got that scholarship to a week long immersion in information science. And he says that the place is beautiful and we should totally move up there and get a house on the island. I'm all for that, as I've always loved water and islands, and of course, whales! Not that he's seen a lot of them, since it's not yet that season. But that's my latest update. We're now planning some kind of trip for next year. I'm really excited for the days when we have real salaries, so we can use them for traveling. We both want to go to so many places. The top choices for next year are, of course, Berlin and Prague, or a cruise to either Alaska or Belize. But it's actually pretty affordable to go to Istanbul, which would be so awesome! We were looking at a guidebook. It's such a historical city, and who doesn't love Byzantine culture? Anyway, the only update for me is that this week is slow for working, although next week (once he's back of course!) I have a heavy schedule. So I'm basically sitting at the apartment or in the park, reading through some of the books that I need to "read before I die." Kay, how far have you gotten? Anyway, that's just an update; sorta boring.

Man, Nick travels a lot:) I wish I could! Right now I have to save up for fishing Alaska '09 and possibly wedding in England '09:) By the way, the wedding I'm referring to is not mine, although '09 might not be a bad year....
Anyway, I went through my 1001 books you must read before you die and marked the ones I've already read...sadly, I barely made a dent. I've read a few more but it's been slow going since I have a milk box full of romance novels at home that I've been working on so I don't have to move them. Next year I'll be able to make more of a dent in the book. It is quite fun to pick out a random book, go find it, and read it.

Yeah, he's traveling quite a bit. Did I tell you he's been to Greece? I'm so jealous. And if it's gonna be '09 you have to let me know! I marked the ones I've read as well, and yes, sadly, I barely made a dent. I'd always kind of considered myself well-read, but I was just being a delusional book snob apparently. I was going to try and do it systematically and go backwards or forwards or by century, but then I did it randomly, so now I have to go through every now and then and say, oh yeah! I read that months ago, which I don't think should count but I count anyway....and yes, romance novels keep me away from the real literature as well.

Dean and I were talking about marriage the other day and I told him I already know I want to get married in the middle of may...around the 14th, just to keep the anniversary thing simple (that's the day we had our first date). But the year is up for debate...He decided he would have to propose in August to give me nine months...He was also very upset that us getting married in May '09 would seriously upset our fishing Alaska, July, '09. What if we can't get off work for both of those vacations:) So we may have to wait until '10. We were mostly being silly...yet somewhat serious:)

Oh, and I actually told him about my wedding folder...typical male, he got all curious and slightly freaked out and wanted to know exactly what was in it:) Do I have the Church picked out? Well... sort of, I've been considering the church where his parents got married. Do I know color schemes... no, but I know designs:) I told him ALL chicks have wedding folders...or at least mental plans. There's no pressure, it's just what we do! Even if I had become a nun I'd probably still know what flowers I want in the boquet:)

he he.. that's super neat, Kay. I love that being a girl means we do stuff like plan our weddings way before we're even engaged usually.

You could always Marry in May 09 and just postpone your honeymoon til July. You could just like a take a mini-weekend honeymoon just after the wedding and then put fishing '09 with some other fun fancy stuff and a have a super long fabulous Canandian & Alaskan honeymoon!

July went to Banff which is supposed to be BEAUTIFUL!

Just a thought.

Dang it.. I want to plan another wedding!!!

oop.. July was supposed to be "Julie" in that last part.

Ahh, yes. The talking of marriage that is sort of fun but also sort of serious. Because until you're engaged, I don't think guys can actually talk about marriage and stuff unless it's "sort of silly." Commitment phobia and all that. I would say you get married IN Alaska and then just spend the rest of the time on your honeymoon there! Alaska is definitely one of the places Nick and I want to go. He's really against weddings though so I don't think we'd have much of one; of course, I've HAD a wedding and quite frankly I'm pissed at myself for wasting it on the wrong guy...but that's neither here nor there. I call dibs on being maid of honor! lol...sorry Sara! :-)

Waiting for your honeymoon would be super not fun:( Also, I refuse to spend my honeymoon having Dean sigh loudly because I won't bait my own hook or roll his eyes because I'm afraid to hold the fish for the picture. It works just as well if he holds it and stands next to me! I'm having all male children so they can deal with gross fish stuff for me. Also, I can't get married in Alaska because... well, other than I just don't want to, I don't have a good reason:) I just want a nice, simple, simple, church wedding in Wichita...with a week long vacation somewhere warm and exotic afterward. Oh, well, we'll just have to start jobs with the explicit understanding that we will need three to four weeks of vacation that summer:) It's clearly the only reasonable solution.

Oh, yeah, and if you tell Dean that I mentioned any of this, he will kill me...and then I will kill you...not necessarily in that order:)

um... kay... it's on a blog. he could probably google it. but my lips are sealed... as if i've seen dean in the last 3 years. :)

Yeah, I would never tell Dean this. And he doesn't read my blog. But if you want, I'll delete your comments!

Well I have a new travel guide to buy. Nick has mentioned that there's a conference in Finland he'd like to go to next year. So that may be our trip! Finland should be cool. Apparently though (and this made me suspicious) the conference isn't in Helsinki, so I'm worried it will be in the middle of nowhere and there won't be any museums or night life and I'll be there with a bunch of librarians (which won't be TOO awful, especially if I decide I want to be one also) and alone most of the day because of the conference. I mean, I could take that if I could spend the day wandering around looking at great art but alone in nowheresville could be bad. Of course, this trip is still in theory stages, but Finland is still cool!

Worried about vacation time for marriage and honeymoon? Easily remedied, Get married in Vegas. That's a wedding/honeymoon all wrapped in one.

Want an exotic place? Stay in the Luxor, it's like Egypt! (If Egypt was populated by Americans gambling).

And men don't talk about marraige until proposal not because of "Commitment phobia" it's just that we don't think that far ahead in the future. Don't make us complex creatures... we're just not.

I would just like to point out that I did not have a wedding folder and I had an awesome wedding.
