Flooding

I'll try to link some of the photos Nick and I are taking and some video as well. But if you're interested, this is what's going on right now where we live. Major flooding and now the water is going over the spillway of the reservoir so there's going to be more. Wish everyone here good luck, cause we're so going to need it.

It's on the front page. Oh, and Nick and I should be okay where we're located unless it gets much worse that they plan (which is possible because we have rain coming up in the forecast) but we should be fine.

I was wondering how close you guys were to the floods. Glad to hear you are safe (at least for now).

I'm seeing the sun come out now, but it's supposed to rain again tomorrow. I keep hoping maybe it won't, cause that's going to make it horribly worse. Keep your fingers crossed for a week of sun and extremely high temperatures to burn off this water. The flooding is fascinating though, in a disastrous way. Nick and I keep looking at photos and walking around going, whoa!

So Coralville is flooded; one of the levies broke. We're still safe, and no one is predicting a problem here because we're higher up. But it's really really bad. Nick's down moving computers at the library - they're closing it down tomorrow. I'd be there, but I'm waiting for a call that is supposed to come sometime today (f*ing companies and their vaguenss!) Evacuations in some parts of Iowa City. We just keep getting more water from upriver and the rain didn't help. FEMA is coming in today with our senators. National guard is hard at work. The road we were on last night is now closed and flooded. Scary.

Nick just called = it's going to take him an hour and a half to get home from 2 miles away.

Yeah I was flipping through all of the channels here last night to check on our weather and while flipping past the weather channel I heard them say that the levee there had broken. Glad to hear you guys are still okay. Keep us updated!

The water might crest today. The Iowa Memorial Union is flooded as is all of the art campus. So far, the library is safe. Apparently, the sandbag wall didn't hold. Down about a mile from us, it's completely underwater -this includes the pita pit, Judy, just so you know. A levee broke. All the bridges from this side of town going into Iowa City are now closed. There's only one way to get to the medical center and hospital.
